I have been reading with interest about QSL managers not willing to =
pay out of their own pocket to return cards via the bureau.
I do not get a huge number of requests for QSL cards per year as =
compared to what a manager for an active dx station receives, but do get =
about 1500 to 2500 requests depending on the contesting activities that =
go on here at KD0S.
Lets face it guys, some hams are just plain cheap. If you really need =
that qsl card, provide postage and a SAE to get it returned to you. If =
an operator or his manager accepts cards via the bureau, then by all =
means use it if you are in no hurry. Remember in most cases, its you =
that needs the DX stations card, not the other way around.
I get hundreds of requests from JA's, DL's, I's and others for cards =
from SD, and maybe I do it wrong, but my first priority are those that =
send some type of return postage. When those cards are done, then I do =
the bureau cards.
The cards that are not via the bureau or do not contain return postage =
wait depending on my finances at the time and may have to wait a month =
for me to afford the postage. I have to assume DX stations do the same.
I do not mind spending 2 bucks for return postage in exchange for a =
card from a new country or even a new band if I think I need the card. =
However I do mind spending my hard earned cash and not receiving a card, =
resubmitting and still not getting a card as seems to happen more and =
more.
If you need the card, send return postage. If a manager stiffs you, =
let the rest of us know.
