I knew Switzerland was not a member of the EU (European Union). I implied
that by saying the Swiss did not convert to the Euro Money system. They
still use Swiss Francs and you still have to stop at the Swiss border when
leaving Switzerland to clear Swiss customs if you plan to request a refund
of the VAT amounts you paid while in Switzerland.
The U.K. went from their old system to New Pence (their decimal system) in
1971. I was there, flying out of a RAF base. It was easy for us, but the
London Taxi drivers, bar tenders, etc, had a tough time sometimes
converting their old system to New Pence.
My point was that if you buy stamps from a European country in their old
currency, Fr Francs, It Lira, German Marks, etc, who is now under the Euro
system, those old stamps may no longer be acceptable or may soon expire.
