Speaking as a QSL Manager, I cannot work with checks. Last year I got a
10ドル check from a Canadian Amateur and by the time I cashed it at the bank,
they took their commissions, exchange rate etc etc, I was left having to
actually add a few pence to make up the value of the stamp to return the
QSL.
You must remember that we are involved in a hobby and that even us QSL
managers have no special facilities to cash or to exchange monies. I have
a drawer full of foreign money, but all in - insufficient amounts to make
cashing it worthwhile. I tried once to cash it, but I was going to have to
pay a commission on EVERY currency as they considered it a different
transaction. If I had gone ahead with it, I would actually have had to
pay the bank money.
So in the field of QSLing, then I'm afraid the rules are very simple,
whatever your opinion may be......
you either use the buro OR
if you prefer direct - MY advice would be simply enclose either an IRC or 1ドル
U.S.A. (taking appropriate security measures depending on destination)....
Keep your check book in your pocket......
