[Antennas] Think I've got this figured out, Re: AM Broadcast RX Antenna?

It may have a characteristic impedance of 200, but it's only a few feet and
the impedance mismatch between it and
the antenna and the radio is not a consideration. The characteristic it's
selected for is low capacitance per foot.
Essentially the lead-in is part of the antenna but this part is shielded so
it picks up a minimum of electrical noise
under the hood. -Hue

I have been following this thread, but I don't recall hearing that
the coax between car antennas and radios has like a 200 Ohm impedance
so using RG-58 or similar is going to hurt your efforts, if the
mount is going to be more than 3 feet from the radio a tuned circuit
followed by a FET pre-amp driving lower impedance coax would be worth
your time investigating.
