 I have the Yaesu FT-857D and the Yaesu FC-30 tuner (I do not know the
AT-897) and I had the same problem, it turned out to be a quick press
of the [TUNE] button toggles the tuner off and on.
I found no documentation on this command.
This allows the FC-30 auto tuner to be set be on all of the time so
when you change bands on the radio the auto tuner can be bypassed
until the tuner can be tuned on that part of the new band.
