Subject: [Antennas] QUADS & BEAMS ??
Quads are said to have a low angle of radiation and so
an excellent choice for focusing on a direction.
Does this mean they typically need to be higher than
the yagi or beam ??? .
Of the direction antennas, which can handle the moderate
heigth (30-40') and still be worth using ???
You must specify what part of the quad you are referring to when you discuss
height. The top wire, the bottom wire or the center of the quad. A 20m quad
has it's top wire about 17 ft above it's bottom wire and about 8.5 ft above
the quad's center. If you place the center of the quad at 40' the top wire
is at 48.5 ft above ground. Put a 2 Element 20M yagi at 48.5 ft and I think
you'll find the performance similar to the quad. ANyone ever model this
comparison?
