[Antennas] WTB - Antenna Tuner. . . . .

Hello Susan,
I HIGHLY recommend - so much so that I'd NOT buy anything else at all not
even if it were free - a tuner that can be mounted at the feedline.
Of course this means the tuner has to be automatic or at least "remote
controlled" - or both.
What I'd find is a good ATU for 200 watts, then put it in a waterproof
plastic electricians box and mount it at the dipole feedpoint - what you
will loose in time and money doing this will be MORE than made up in
performance and ease of use after you do it.
New and ongoing research into the actual method of radio propagation from
antennas and the antennas interaction with the feedline has more and more
strongly supported the reasons for doing this.
There are other ways of feeding antennas - one of the best is wide spaced
open line (high impediance line spaced six or more inches apart) which
produces very excellent results.
But as many say - it is in the antenna system - which includes all the parts
- antenna, matching system and feed lines - is NOT the place to be on a
small budget.
Best - but not solid gold - is what usually is the cheapest and most
desirable in the long run.
