An interesting question ... the answers actually depend on several important
factors including your needs, budget, yagi height, rotor, and tower loading.
So share a bit more details please ... if you are considering putting up a yagi
at 30', just to rag chew and tune around, probably not the ROI to consider.
If you are considering putting one up at say 0.5w, properly installed with the
right sized tower/rotor/etc. for serious DXing and contesting, that can be FUN.
Generally speaking, for the same height as the present G5RV, you could 'see'
roughly less a S-unit in gain with much better F/B and F/S with the yagi.
Having the F/B and F/S and being able to peak/null out other stations can be
just as the TV comerical says ... "priceless".
So give us a bit more insight as to goals and the height of the G5RV please.
