[Antennas] Rust on Beam

Dear Group,
I have a 2 meter Cushcraft Beam that I have discovered
some rust on it. It really has been up that long, but
its starting to look like its been on the tower for
many years. What would be the best way to clean it? 
Could I use steel-wool on it, and if so, is there
anything that I could coat it with? Any help would be
appreciated.
