Common mode and whatnot will be a problem if
the dipole is not fed in the electrical center. Real Windom's
are fed with a single wire at about the 600 Ohm point.
All the old link-coupled transmitters were 600 Ohm, but
all the transmitters nowadays are 50 Ohms. You'll nead a
tuner or a 12:1 balun to go from 50 to 600. Windom's need
a good ground because they're still a single wire going
up in the air. And, because they are only good on two bands,
why not just feed the dipole in the center with balanced line
and use it with a tuner and a 1:1 balun on almost any
frequency, Ham, MARS, or CAP. That's been mentioned
here before. Hi.
