I don't know where you came up with that idea. A good match (low SWR) 
does not guarantee good antenna performance.
I suggest you get your hands on a copy of and read Walter Maxwell's 
book Reflections. The first portion that book is based on his series 
of articles "Another Look at Reflections" that appeared in QST back 
in the mid 70s. That series is available at:
