[Antennas] 40-6 mtr Hamstick

BAD idea!...you cannot tune a helically wound antenna for proper operation
because of the current distrbution...
With a straight whip, this is a different (and doable) matter..but not with
a hamstick or similar WOUND antenna...
It WONT work (if it does, it does not work WELL)...and by the time you get
to 6m, a normal 1/4 whip or even a Larsen NMO150 (which acts as a base
loaded quaterwave) works better than a tuned hamstick.
I have a 40m hamsitck on my van right now...the SWR keeps changing
......(and always seems to be going HIGHER in freq for the resonant
freq...IF I can find it! Could be the coil is cracked or I have a bad
connection)...After reading several antenna theory pages, I am going BACK to
a Hustler style..The helical wound hamsticks (any of them) are poor
radiators and have the loading on the wrong end (I have always known top
loading was the most efficient) so a Hustler style (with the loading coils
at the top or near the top OR a straight 102.in whip with a coupler attached
properly is the best and most efficient mobile antenna.
