"Antenna is a center loaded vertical for 40m,
mounted in the clear on a flat 2nd story roof.
3'x3' base plate
with (3) 1/4 wave radials for 40m
30" mast/stalk
6"x6" coil
60" stinger
feed will be with a 1/2 wave (electrically @40m) of 50 ohm coax.
My primary band will be 40m
the antenna will not be accessable after installation
so no changing of taps will be possiable then.
If I wanted to try to run this antenna on 30m and 17m....
Adding at least 1 radial for each of those bands will help the tuning?
true/false?
Seems I have 2 possiabilities,
I just feed the antenna 'as is' (tuned for 40m) and run it thru a tuner in the
shack.
or
try to set up some form of switching of taps on the main coil. leaving the
base coil in it's 40m 50 ohm tap setting.
I know niether will be optimal, but I'd like ya'lls feedback on if just
running the tuner from the shack will work just a well/poorly as if I tried to
switch taps. Also if the taps would be that mutch better.. any suggestions how
to do it?
