Do it...nothing ventured, nothing gained.
PS: last week, I had a eye-ball chat with an antenna guru who had been with 
AT&T.
He said surprises and confounding results occurred with antennae..."no one 
could explain."
My humble suggestion would be to use 'big' strips of copper braiding bolted 
and silver soldered to as many panel spots as practical... then covered with 
weatherizing gunk.
Oh yes...you might need a tuner.
