[Antennas] cushcraft MA 8040 ground questions

Hi to all
 just bought a ma-8040 vertical. The required radials will be a tight 
thing on my std. flordia building lot. I have behind the house a salt 
water boat canal. Is there any way I can use this canal and some how 
back off of all the required radials that cushcraft suggests. Ive found 
little info on verticals and salt water anywhere. I now use a force 12 
sigma 5 ,mounted over the saltwater, but that antenna is a vertical 
dipole and the salt water helps wwith the take off angle of the 
antenna.
 any help or suggestions concerning the ma8040 and the salt 
water,bring them on
