Does the Coaxial Dipole have ANY advantage over a common Dipole?
If so, what is it?

I don't know of one except that you don't have to have a separate wire to
create it. (use the fold over braid as mentioned earlier.)
I have made a number of coaxial dipoles over the years. All worked very
well. They make excellent verticals that don't require ground radials.
They are easy to put up as all you need is a string over a suitable branch.
I have never used one horizontal, but I imagine that someone would have a
use for one as the coax comes out one end of the dipole element so it
wouldn't have to look quite like an antenna. I guess in between two
high-rises, it could look like a clothesline or something.
My thoughts for the original thread are that I might keep 100 feet of RG-58U
or similar and a spool of suitable length wire in my trunk. In an emergency
or for field ops, I would only need to clip a couple of wires, throw a rock
over a tree limb and raise a vertical antenna. Likewise, it could be for a
portable emergency antenna for hikers, etc. It takes a lot longer to strip
and fold over the coax for a coaxial dipole than to measure a length of
wire.
