The problem is that no one balun design will cover all the bases. A current
balun works best only when the differential impedances are low, while a
voltage balun will tolerate a wider impedance range, however, it does not
perform as well as a current balun for unbalanced loads. There is a very
interesting article on this subject in the Sept/Qct 2005 issue of QEX which
is available on the members only section ARRL web site.
