 Boy, you're asking a tall order. If I remember right, the meter is just that, a meter.
It's labeled where the far left is South, half-deflection is North, and full deflection
is South again, right? So, what you would need is a circuit that lights up certain LEDs
depending on how much voltage the circuit is seeing. No voltage, South, half North,
full South again. Sounds like a simple analog-to-digital conversion kit that would work
a total of 9 LEDs... S, SW, W, NW, N, NE, E, SE, S. There's probably something in
an old Popular Electronics or a more modern Circut Circus or whatever it's called
nowadays. If you want more accuracy or a digital readout, though, you will have a
fun time. Can the rotor go more than 360 degrees? Like 540 degrees? Then you'd
have to consider starting it off at North, 0 degrees, and wind around, and use the
A/D converter to output in degrees instead of a few LEDs.
