That you could work out on 20 up does not surprise me at all, but i am
curious how this small antenna worked on 40 and goodness, even 80.
I suspect quite a bit like a mobile whip at those freqs. One advantage,
I think at least, over a mobile whip and ground wire, in the apartment
environment, is that you can maybe move the antenna kinda away from
noise sources, while a ground wire ( radial ) has to meander around near
all kinds of appliances.
If one has time to build, i'm sure a helical wound balanced vertical mast
antenna would work just as well as the Isotrons and take up hardly any more
space, being just an inch or a few wide and maybe 7 ft tall. -Hue Miller
