There's the rub ... what's fact and what is fiction ... how to sift through
the QRM in the postings is a challenge at times.
As W8JI, N7CL, and ON4UN have published data/reports which
compare REAL on ground with elevated setups, with varying numbers
of radials/etc. ALL of which would challenge the "two is enough" type
of shotgun statements. Also, consider than many ops who started with
elevated arrays ... have since gone to ground mounted systems ...
Possible summary/conclusion? "There still ain't no free (RF) lunch."
BTW, ON4UN's books are a great resource for topics like this ...
