I am looking for a 30-54 or 30-88 MHz broadband vertical, omni- and possibly
gain antenna for for Army MARS, ten and six meter use.
The RC292 military groundplane is a single-freq antenna, not suitable.
There are 25 through 88 MHz Ringo antennas, again, single freq and not
suitable. The OE-254 military antenna is a type of discone but has a
somewhat lossy matching element. Kreco makes a discone for 30-200 MHz but
seems bulky and expensive for this application. Radio
SHack/Icom/Comet/Diamond antennas have a crummy
49 or 50 Mhz element added to a 140-1200 MHz discone and won't do it....
Also thought about an outdoor SGC auto antenna tuner at the feedpoint of a
GP antenna, but expensive and not so good on frequency hopping or wideband.
Thanks,
Jay
