New to this reflector.
I have been reading past reflectors to gain information
About the antennas and tower that I am installing.
Along the way I see several references to Open Wire Feed line
Connected to parallel coax to enter the building, then connected to a balun
then connected to coax to connect to the 'tuner'.
My question is. If you are going to use a balun in the circuit
Why not place it before the parallel coax and go straight to single coax to
the tuner. Or why not continue the parallel coax to the tuner and skip the
balun. (QST has articles on a balanced/balanced tuner)
In my situation I was/am planning to use parallel 75 ohm coax (from catv)
to exit my building, then go to open wire feed. My building is an all metal
30 by 40 barn with the radio room up in one corner. I am planning to build
a balanced/balanced 'tuner'.
Someone is looking for pyrex insulators. Might I suggest that nylon rod or
flat stock is probably more easily available.
I'm trying to find out the material used in the "plastic" cutting boards,
possibly using that for insulators on the H B open wire feed. I used PVC
pipe for insulators on the electric fence - they smoke and catch fire so I
will not use that for RF insulators.

(off Subject) If a volcano spews one part ash and one part steam would that
be a half ash eruption?
