I used a 65 ft long 80M inverted L for years with very good results, as a
stealth antenna hidden in a grove of trees behind the house, fed against a
small short radial system and slung over a tree branch at the 30 ft level.
the horizontal leg runs roughly horizontally to a tree at the perimeter of
the woods. Nice dx and stateside antenna for 80, but poor as it is on
160.
If I had a higher tree branch Id have put up a longer vertical leg.
Lengthening the horizontal leg to one qtr wavelength or 3/8ths produced
poor results.
Perhaps if I had more real estate to lay out a quarter wave radial or two
might have helped.
But the 80M antenna worked great on 80. Could not get it to load up on 40
however.
