[Antennas] PLASTIC EGG INSULATORS

There is one other item which I think is worth taking into consideration -
life expectancy. I have, over the years, used several varieties of plastic
insulators for antennas. Many of manufactured ones were claimed to be UV
resistant and so forth. In the areas I live during that time (So.
California and the northern California coast) none held up over well the
years. On the other hand ceramic insulators have always lasted with no
detectable degradation. They're slightly heaver, cost is higher and they
sure as heck will break if you drop then on a concrete driveway or path,
but if long life is a consideration then they are, in my opinion, worth the
cost.
