Regarding building a BALUN:
I recommend "Understanding, Building, and Using Baluns and Ununs," by 
Jerry Sevick, W2FMI. It provides details for building several different 
transmission line transformers. I underling the term because it is 
essential to recognize that the size and spacing of the bi-filar 
windings, giving them a particular characteristic impedance, is critical 
to their operation. This book is published by CQ Communications, Inc. 
Another of Dr. Sevick's books about Baluns and Ununs is offered by ARRL 
and I suspect it includes building instructions. In addition, you may 
search the subject on the ARRL web site.
Read critically. There is lots of conflicting and probably incorrect 
material in print and on the web.
