Jim, Could the station be WKY out of OKC? If not, what station and
where are you located? I am unaware of any 50KW domestic stations on
this channel. A 3 ft box loop (unamplified) works pretty well if you are
using a shielded communications reciever or even as a passive booster
with a good portable like a GE Superadio, RS Optimus, or CCRadio. I
have built several loops for MW both amplified and passive, and would not
recommend an amplified loop. At 200 miles in daylight, the groundwave
signal could be below the noise level, depending on several factors
including terrain.
