[Antennas] "Perfect Dipole"

I had a "crossed dipole" system up 60'. E-W was a 40 meter dipole, N-S
was an 80
meter dipole with a 40m dipole underneath it. Both fed via a toroid
balun and a
DPDT relay. These were very nearly at 90 degrees, and at the same height
and
plane.
About 1 out of 20 times, changing the 40m orientation would have a
detectable effect
on heard signal. Typically, this was going from "I think there is
something there" to
barely hearing the station. CW operation.
I am currently using a trap beam element pair as a rotary dipole. I
detect little, if any,
directivity, even stations off the ends are unchanged.
