Well as I understand it this is some oddball commercial antenna and the base
has to remain intact. I was not there to see what they were referring to so
I could only assume it was some odd mounting method. That is what brought on
the "Ball" question. Someone they talked to in the 11 meter arena informed
them that removing the ball would "Ruin the antenna and burn up the radio"
I agree that typically they should be trimmed from the bottom.
