[Antennas] hitest fishing line for antenna supports

Something I found that has worked quite well for me is Gas Trimmer Line. I
don't recall the diameter at this time. but I think it is .080 . I was
putting up a temporary dipole one day and I needed something to use to put
the antenna up and I came across a package of line in the shed and decided
to try it because it was strong and "slick". I tied a weight onto the
line(making knots is a challenge with this stuff) and launched the weight to
about 40 feet in a pine tree and the weight came immediately to the ground
on the opposite side of the tree as the trimmer line was smooth and slipped
right through the limbs of the tree.
As for strength and durability I currently have a 10ga. 80 meter loop that
has been suspended by the stuff for a little over 3 years now and have only
had one support line break and that was due to a limb falling during a
storm. I now keep a large spool on hand which serves for trimming and
antenna installation. BTW if you are looking for stealth this is not the
stuff to use, typically I have found purple, red, and varying shades of
green most of which are almost flourescent. I also keep several "loops" of
this with weights attached in the "Go Box" for emergencies and Field Day
use.
