Great question.
Think of linear loading as a loading coil that has been spread out
or stretched out for the length of the antenna ... and you'll be on
track there as to how it works ... the coil material is now linear, as in
rather than being in a round format, as in a coil ... it is now flat or
linear, running along the main antenna conductor. 450 ohm feed
line is two conductors arranged in such a format, may work well.
ON4UN's book on Low Band DXing gives a much better and more
detailed explanation. But hopefully this will help for now!
