Randy,
Thanks for the prompt reply! Do you have the math/formula for
calculating the length necessary? I just"stumbled" into building what seems
to be close to an ultimate DX antenna and am wondering if the same
principles would work on the G5RV, also perhaps on a windom?
What happened was this: I was experiencing rather severe VSWR changes
with rain, ice and snow on my 450 ohm windowed ladder line, and replaced it
with homebrew twin feedline constructed of wireman #14 sranded "fexiweave"
spaced at 2" on sections of 1/2 inch pvc pipe. It worked so well that I
tried a double extended zepp made with the same materials with 42 foot arms
and a 50 foot feed using RG-213 and a 160M bead balun from Palomar
engineers. The reult was mounted at 42 feet and exceeded my wildest dreams!
AK from MO on 5 watts, 3950 SSB!
Now I want to try shortening other wire antenna designs....
Thanks for any insights, inforation you might be willing to offer.
