To build a multi-band dipole cut the dipole for the lowest frequency you
intend to transmit on, in this case 40 mtrs, and feed it with 450 ladder line or
even 300 ohm twin lead. It will have different patterns on each band as
compared to a resonate dipole cut for each band. another way to do this is build a
G5RV. <A HREF="http://www.qsl.net/aa3px/g5rv.htm">G5RV</A> this site gives good information as to the construction and make up
of a G5RV. <A HREF="http://www.qsl.net/k2hq/g5rv.htm">g5rv</A> This site here gives more detail as to construction and
radiation patterns as well.
Good Luck and BTW I have a G5RV here that is twinlead fed with NO BALUN and I
love mine and use it 160 (coax shorted and fed as a Marconi)-20 mtrs,
including the new "60" mtr band.
