[Antennas] RE: length of random wire

I have the same problem.
If you have a well-watered tree nearby you may want to use it as an
antenna. I haven't had a chance to quantitatively test it yet but it
appears to be working pretty well for me. See

Since it's difficult to keep my window secured if I use coax I used speaker
wire instead, but keep in mind my particular application is receive only. I
would definitely use coax if I intended to transmit.
