Hello:
I am a new subscriber to this list, and I have a problem
I built a 6m quad from the directions at a web site, which (Naturally) I
cannot now find. When I assemble the antenna, the driven element has
spreader lenghts of 83 21/32 inches, for a side length of 58.5 inches.
The reflector has spreaders that are 88 inches long and the side lengths are
61.3 inches. The center boom is slightly over 2 feet long and the elements
are spaced exactly 23 1/2 inches apart. The boom is made of 2 inch pvc and
the spreaders are 1/2id pvc (NOT CPVC) The antenna is direct fed (no match)
with coax at the bottom of the driven element, which is not connected at the
bottom. According to my modeling, the antenna should yield a theroetical
gain of about 8.6 dBi. The following values also come out of the MMANA
program
For Frequency 50.200
R (Ohm) =20.963
jX (Ohm) = -154.411
SWR 50 = 21.51
Then elements are made of stranded copper wire uninsulated purchsed from
Radio shack as antenna wire.
The problem is that I cannot get this antenna to tune up for anything. When
I put the antenna analyzer on it, the swr is infinate through the entire 6m
band. It begins to come down to about 2.5 around 160 mHz (above the 2 meter
band).
I am not real experienced building antennas, and I am totally stumped on
this one, I have tried everything that I can think of, and I need some
advice
thanks for your help
