I use coiled coaxial trap/baluns (10 turns, 4" diameter) on both my Classic
33's that are used at our FD operations. One is tuned for the CW portion of
the bands and the other for SSB.
No problems noted for us. If the feedline length change DOES make a
difference in the readings, then wind the trap/balun and check it out. I
believe that simple change will cure your problem.
