My personal experience with this scenario has been that a number of licensed
friends, acquantances and professional associates who were as, or more,
technically competent than I am upgraded without ever looking at the Q & A
pools or taking the practice tests on QRZ.
These individuals already had the technical knowledge and simply had never
had the desire to learn CW with proficiency to pass the 13 or 20 WPM code
tests.
I consider these individuals a tremendous asset to the fraternity where they
now can participate with their technical skills in operating activities that
previously they were legally excluded from.
Be positive. Be an optimist. Do YOUR best to improve. Assist others with
their improvement. All will turn out well in the end.
