If you remove the antenna, and the noise goes away, then it must be coming
in through th eantenna.
Vertical antenna are legion for receiving noise. Most, if not all, man made
noise is vertically polarized,
thus it is received by then antenna at a higher amplitude.
You might want to look at the RFI reflector...It's very helpful at tracking
down problems that hinder many of us in the pursuit of our hobby.
