[Antennas] 5-Band Quad VSWR

Jim,
As a matter of fact, I tried this experiment with several different lengths
of coax with no significant change. I read in one of my antenna books that a
variation in SWR due to changing coax length may be indicative that the coax
is doing all the radiating of the RF anyway. So I was relieved when there
was no major change in this experiment. As far as taking VSWR readings from
the ground, I used an old EZ-Way crank-up tilt-over tower and have turned
the antenna so the reflector is facing the ground. It reads about the same
at ground level and at variations in height also. I should have added that
12 & 15 meters SWR and bandwidths are excellent and 10 meters, while
limited, is at an acceptable level. My major concerns are with 17 & 20 where
I spend most of my DX time and need to make every watt count.
P.S. The 3 different tranceivers that I tested with their own built-in SWR
meters give me an entirely different reading from the meter in the MFJ 986
Tuner or the SWR analyzer as well. Is this screwy or what? hihi
