Dirigibles, eg, the von Hindenburg, tied up at tall poles. When viewed
from the long-side at a distance, the image sorta resembled a horizontal
wire antenna, end-fed with o-w-l hanging down at right angles. The
dirigible outline was the 'radiation pattern'.
We need terminology police to remind us and promote the correct use of,
viz., words such as 'radical'.
O-T: One of my pet peeves is the use on c-w of 'didididadidah' after one's
call-sign, at the conclusion of a kew-so: dadadididit didididadah didadidit
didah didadit dididit dadadah dadit didadah didit dadadah dididah dadidit
dit dadit didididadah didididit di dididadidah vs what may still be promoted
