I beg to differ..... Mr. Tesla held the original patent for AC power, which
was then developed by George Westinghouse (ever hear of him?), and
eventually beat the wizard of Menlo Park and his DC system. By 1891 he was
granted over 40 patents in all, many of them for AC generation, AC motors,
transformers, and associated power equipment. The MANY things Mr. Tesla did
are far too numerous to list here. However, a later court decided that
Marconi stole his system from Tesla. He is also considered the father of
robotry, having a remote-control torpedo that the navy didn't use sometime
around WW-I. His Tesla coil and DIRECTED lightening experiments in Colorado
are now looked upon as the fore-runner of Particle Beam Technology. Seems
to me he also started the X-ray tube, but the further development of that
fell to Roentgen. Wish I had a better memory.... guess you will need to
read the book - don't wait for the movie. Since Edison invented that, and
he didn't get along with Tesla after the AC system beat the DC system, not
sure if they will ever make the movie.
Now, are you sure Tesla didn't do anything MAJOR??? Like power plants,
radio, ......... Is AC power bread and butter enough for you?
Another interesting fellow is Charles P. Steinmetz. But we will save that
for another time.
Sure glad I paid attention in history 30 years ago.
