There is a good chapter on traps with formulas in the ARRL antenna book.

Subject: [Antennas] MODIFYING_MY_MOSLEY_TA-33M
Does anyone have any information on re-winding the traps on a Mosley TA-33M
triband beam and placing it on 20, 17 and 15 meters. I cannot find any
information on re-winding the traps and re-working the element dimensions to
place this great beam on 20-17-15 meters. I don't need 10 meters!
Can anyone help me with trap winding and element length dimensions? Has
anyone done this mod and had it work?
I don't want to add the 17, 12 meter add on as it only acts as a rotateable
dipole. I would like to realize some gain and FB.
I have a few TA-33M's here so I can experiment with trap winding and
dimensions if someone can help me.
Understanding the traps and what effect they have on shorting the element
length as well as providing a parallel resonate trap circuit is not covered
in any of my books. Of course I'm talking about Mosley's traps and I don't
think they will part with any information as I'm looking for.
I need a count of the number of turns on the two sides of the traps for 17
and 15 meters for the reflector, driven, and director elements and the
associated element lengths.
I tried reversing the trap and placing the greater number of turns on the
inside toward the boom to see if I could get the beam to resonate on 15
meters for a start and it would not resonate. Apparently the traps have a
loading effect that I'm not taking into account.
HELP
Thanks.
