[Antennas] any ideas?

Hi Ken,
I was faced with the same sort of problem. I live on a lot that is 66x110,
with power lines all over the place!
I spent a lot of time going over L.B. Cebik's web site, http://www.cebik.com
I ended up with an 88' dipole, fed with ladder line, strung up in the trees
at about the 35' level. The ladder line runs to a coax choke balun just
outside of the shack, and then probably 10' of rg8 to the rig.
The internal tuner in my Icom 746 doesn't seem to have any trouble tuning
all bands, 160-10. As far as performance, it seems to do pretty well.
I've never tried 160, I'm sure it wouldn't be much there, but it seems to do
a good job on 75/80. Which it should as it's nearly a full size dipole.
I've always been impressed with it's performance on 40, I always get good
signal reports even with low power.
It seems OK on 20, although I haven't spent much time on 20.
On 15, it is about equal to my A99 vertical I use on 10 and 15 with the
tuner.
The dipole works on 10, but is usually down a couple of S units from the
vertical.
There you have it. An all band antenna, with 88' of wire. I used 14 gauge
solid copper wire from Home Depot, BTW. I've been pretty happy with it,
although I'm sure it would do better if I could get it up higher:-) The
vertical has been a boost on the higher bands. I've always wanted to add a
small tribander, but have to wait until the budget can handle it:-)
Another idea I had, but just couldn't do because of all the power lines, was
an 80 meter loop hung around the perimeter of the property. There is enough
room for the ~260' loop, but no way to get it around the power lines. Fed
with ladder line, the loop should be a very good all band performer...
