[Antennas] Verticals And Trees

IMHO, verticals, like nearly all other antenna I can think of, do better the
higher they are mounted (at least up to a wavelength or two above ground).
Why ground mount when you have such wonderful access to elevated mounting
options? I'd use the trees to raise the vertical if I could.
Four radials is about the most needed for verticals when mounted above the
ground. Shoot, why not try just a single counterpoise? Bet it would be
adequate.

Subject: [Antennas] Verticals And Trees
What's the current thinking concerning HF verticals and trees. Do trees have
any effect on ground mounted (with radials) verticals, such as the 4, 5, or
6BTV series? If there is some effect, what minimum safe distance should a
vertical be away from the trees? My particular lot has trees pretty much
everywhere I could mount a vertical antenna. Most are 60 foot plus trees.
Thanks for any thoughts,
