Hi Jim,
If the antenna was meant to be install as a horizontal dipole and you make
it an inverted V you'll have to cut about 5% off the length to get it to
resonate at the same frequency.. Most dipoles on 80M are fairly narrow
banded at that frequency the inverted V you put up may be reonate out side
the band if you can get your hands on an antenna anilyzer it would be
helpful in tuning.
