Also, be aware that increased SWR on a trap antenna may cause the traps to
break down, especially if running high power. Not familiar with the antenna
your using (a4s trap yagi) but, since you said it had traps thought it might
be a consideration.

Yes, some have good success with "rubbering" an antenna to a different
portion of the band using an "antenna tuner." However, you must be aware
that doing so DOES NOT tune the antenna. It only allows the transmitter
to see its preferred load condition (takes the SWR effect away from the
transmitter) but does not change the SWR on the line. If you depart too
far from the frequency to which the antenna has been adjusted (by
physical adjustments) the line loss will increase, due to higher SWR AND
the pattern tends to fall apart. That is to say, it will affect the
front to back ratio and the forward gain and possibly change the side
lobes, also.
