If you are concerned about getting a virus, I recommend that you take
a look at Mailwasher. I have been using it since Yahoo sold my e-mail
address earlier this summer. Mailwasher allows you to exam the
headers of your e-mail messages before they are downloaded from your
ISP. You can tell Mailwasher to bounce any mail that you think is a
SPAM or a VIRUS which causes Mailwasher to bounce it back to the
sender with a reason code of Non-existent Address. It will detect
certain viruses too. It is easy to detect the new Bearbug virus
because the message size will be about 59K.
