This is my first year of trying scatter QSOs on 6m
with the Leonids shower.
I'll have a 5el yagi which is suspended from a very
tall tree via a rope and pully, so I can put this
antenna at any height from 10' to 85'. Rig: FT847,
100W.
During the meteor shower, is there an optimal height
for this communication, does it differ from normal Es
on 6m? Normally I put it at about 55' which seems to
be the best. I'm wondering if I should put it lower
for the scatter? I dunno.
My location is 40 miles N-NE of Seattle, WA, local
terrain is wide open flat pasture at a local maxima
and pretty much all contacts are in the same
direction, E-SE unless it opens to JA which it never
does for me.
Same question for 2m, I'll have an 8el yagi and 50W
but since this is my first time I'm gonna focus on 6m
I think.
