[Antennas] Re: Elavated Ground planes

Mick,
I one lived in a mobile home that had an all metal roof and thinking that
this would make a great ground plane I installed a 5 band vertical
approximately 10 feet above the roof. In a word, it didn't work a darn!!
The only thing that I could think of that all this metal just saturated the
ground plane and overloaded everything. I couldn't get a match no matter
whether I raised or lowered the antenna.
Perhaps there is someone here on the reflector that has more knowledge about
verticals than I do, that could help clarify the reason why?
