The Metro Amateur Radiop Club (MAC) of Chicago, and the Pisa Amateur
Radio Club are holding a joint Special Event this Saturday and Sunday,
June 1-2. This event, the Pisan Tower Award, is because the sister
cities of Pisa, Italy, and Niles, IL (a suburb of Chicago) each has a
Leaning Tower. Admittedly, the Niles tower is somewhat newer and
smaller, but it sure looks like the real thing.
Operation will be on the CW frequencies of 7030, 14030, 21030 and 28030
KHz, SSB at 7270, 14270, 21370 and 28370. The MAC club will be on the
air both days 1500Z to at least 2200Z (10AM to 5PM CDT); Presumably Pisa
will have a similar local time slot. MAC will use the call K9Y; Pisa,
IZ5ATX/TWR. QSL manager for the MAC segment is N9BOR, PISA, IK5ZTT.
Special Event QSL cards will be available; a certificate (send a 9"x12"
s.a.s.e.) for working both stations.
For complete details, see May issues of QST or CQ, or contact the MAC
website, <http://www.qsl.net/mac>

n.b.I climbed the Pisa tower in 1956, and I will help setup the MAC
station on the Niles tower.
