Hi Bruce,
Is that a brand name or did you mean 'magnetic-loop' ?
If so - read on... If not, then keep-on-a-lookin'....
---------------------------------------------------------------
Despite having managed a few military procurement programs for loop antennas
a long time ago, I'm certainly no technical expert on the subject. I've
just started to look at 'mag-loop' antennas for a few personal applications.
Actually, 'magnetic is a misnomer in that the signal does become
'electrical' a few wavelengths from the transmitting antenna. See I did
remember something!
There only appear to be a few loop antenna makers in the consumer price
range (200ドル+/). However, there are quite a few in the
commercial-military-government-price-is-no -object category.
High-'Q', inherent in the design, making tuning them verrrry 'sharp' -
necessitating retuning every 5kHz or so on 80,40, &20M, but much wider as
the frequency increases. I've picked off a few loop design apps from some
ham-shack-sites that indicate a 6M or 2M loop can be easily built with a
rather wide 1mHz bandwidth.
I did receive some good references (urls) from another list member. Be
happy to forward them (credit to the contributor included, of course) or
refer you to the contributors. The "Cliffdweller's" reflector list here on
qth did seem to have quite a few users who had experience, had built some, &
were willing to share their designs and ideas. Concept is not hard, and
they appear easily constructed with copper tubing and a high voltage
air-variable cap. Despite may advancing years and shortening eyesight, I
may go the homebrew route.
